The Great Houses of Ipswich

Have you ever wanted to have a sticky beak inside some of Ipswich’s oldest and most beautiful homes? We know we have! On the 15th September, some of Ipswich’s historical homes are opening their doors to the public, and letting people do just that.

This year, three beautiful residences are welcoming visitors inside their homes and gardens. Rockton, Arrochar, and Fairy Knoll will all be opening their doors, to give the public a look into the past.

A great way to see the houses is with The Great Houses Heritage Tour. On the tour you receive priority access to the open homes, commentary from a local guide, and a relaxing Devonshire Tea on the verandah of the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre afterwards. It is truly an immersive experience that allows you a rare glimpse into these otherwise private homes.

If you are a vernacular architecture fanatic, a history enthusiast, or just someone who has a soft spot for grand heritage homes, mark Saturday the 15th September in your calendar because it is an event that you won’t want to miss! Last year The Great Houses Heritage Tour was a sell-out so be sure to head to the Discover Ipswich website and book now.
