Have you ever passed a building in Brisbane and wished you could go in and take a peek?
We visited New Farm Cottage–purchased by its owner as a “completely decrepit” Queenslander. Two years later, it’s a stunning modern property that still retains the heritage of the house.
New Farm Cottage is just one building that’s part of Brisbane Open House in 2019. It’s a free event, offering the rare opportunity to explore the designs of architecturally diverse and historic buildings in the city.
After New Farm Cottage, we popped into a boldly designed home in Mt Gravatt, that has people asking: Is it a factory? A house? Or a commercial property? Watch the video above to see the other delightful designs we uncovered.
Held over two days on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October this year, the event is featuring over 119 buildings.
Selected properties will be open to all, with guided and self-guided tours on offer, to encourage people to engage with Brisbane’s buildings.
Open House is an annual event — part of the Open House Worldwide family — that raises awareness of the value of good design in cities across the world.
