The Brisbane International Film Festival, known as BIFF, began in 1992 and offers cinema-goers a huge selection of films and events taking place at GOMA and across Brisbane.
Festival highlights in 2019 include a special program curated by famed Aussie filmmaking duo Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin. Films in this special program include All that Jazz, War and Peace and Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut.
If you like fine food mixed with your films, then check out BIFF’s special screening of Honeyland. It’s an incredible documentary that recently won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. GOMA’s award-winning restaurant will be hosting a special post-screening dinner and all the dishes will be honey-infused and inspired.
A screening that is sure to attract a lot of buzz features a century-old silent classic starring the legendary Harry Houdini! The Grim Game was thought lost for decades. Now it’ll grace GOMA’s silver screen, accompanied by a 1929 Wurlitzer organ that was once housed in Brisbane’s iconic Regent Picture Theatre.
The newly composed score will be played by David Bailey, a local jazz musician.
