A fifteen minute, picturesque drive north-west of Toowoomba, is the historic town of Highfields. It’s where you’ll find The Village Green – offering a delightful range of specialty stores, antiques, food and art – situated at the site of the historic Highfields school.
The restored 1877 original Highfields school house is home to The Chocolate Cottage. Their mantra is that their love of food is served on every single plate. As well as yummy home-cooked meals, they produce a large range of gourmet chocolates made in-house. There’s colourful, quirky décor inside, and spectacular views of the Toowoomba Range outside.
The grassy acreage is a perfect spot for kids to play, and there’s plenty for families to explore at The Village Green. There’s McCartney & Creed Shoes; the Quilters Angel for quilting haberdashery; Herbal Harmonies sell therapy oils and gifts; and Jaybelle Home Décor & Gifts offer a huge range of gorgeous homewares and gifts. People travel from all over to shop here and it’s certainly worth a visit.
