Daniella and Aaron Winter

Winners of House Rules 2017, Aaron and Daniella Winter, share their great day out with us.

Aaron and Daniella live on the Gold Coast with their two young boys, Jackson and Brooklyn. Like most families, life can get hectic. So, when they have a break in their busy schedules, one of their favourite things to do is explore the outdoors.

Mount Barney Lodge is the perfect spot for any young family, with plenty of space to run around. There is also a variety of activities on offer – many of which are family friendly.

Children can take part in the lodge’s Nature Play Passport program, where they are assigned a list of missions to complete throughout their time at the lodge. Children will become immersed in the natural environment as they build stick rafts to race in the stream, spot tiny bats and identify animal droppings.

Mount Barney Lodge is located at the base of Queensland’s fourth highest mountain (1359m), which means it is the ideal spot for the avid adventurer too. Visitors can explore the vast range of bushwalking tracks or challenge themselves to hike Mount Barney.

At the end of the day, visitors can curl up by the fire, roast marshmallows and share their daily adventures with other guests. There are a range of accommodation options to choose from, whether it’s one of their comfortable cottages, a gorgeous glamper or picking a spot to pitch your tent.

Owners Innes and Tracey Larkin aim to create a place where people can rest and recharge their batteries, echoing the phrase:

One touch of nature makes the whole world kin. – W. Shakespeare.
