Nova 106.9’s breakfast radio star Ash Bradnam has a soft spot for North Stradbroke Island. Ash spent a lot of time on the island as a kid; his parents met on Straddie; and he and wife Jodie had their honeymoon there.
Now Ash loves bringing his own family to what he describes a “paradise on Brisbane’s doorstep”.
A great day out for Ash usually starts with a 10 kilometre run with Jodie along the gorgeous Point Lookout track. It offers up stunning views and a great way to get the endorphins flowing at the start of the day. After that, he loads his three boys and the family dog into the car to enjoy some four-wheel-driving on the beach. You can grab a permit for $40, which covers you for 12-months of beach driving. There are so many secluded beaches to choose from, and the family love to get in the water and throw around the footy.
Next, the family head to Amity Point, where the kids love to do backflips off the jetty. After that, a cool gelato is in order. Oceanic Gelato at Point Lookout is always popular with families, and the views from the headland across the road are an even sweeter treat. On any given day, you can spot whales, dolphins, turtles, manta rays and surfers.
