The mysteriously named Lost World Valley is a picturesque corner of the Scenic Rim, lying south of Beaudesert. Pick up a tourist route map from the Beaudesert Arts and Information Centre and hit the road. You can take one of two separate routes through the valley. Both offer beautiful scenery – green pastures and creek crossings framed by the lofty peaks of the Scenic Rim.
Christmas Creek Cabins & Café is worth a stop on a weekend. The café serves light meals, snacks, coffee and Devonshire Tea to visitors on weekends.
Farther down the road there’s Wongari Eco Retreat – a secluded and serene escape that feels far flung from the big city. It’s owned by Brad Beaverson and Mark Michael bought “Wongari” 6 years ago and set about removing thick weeds and restoring Christmas and Waterfall Creeks both of which run through the property.
There are two private cabins, perfect for couples, on the property – one set in secluded forest close to the creek; the other in a more open and sunny position. Plans are underway to build a third cottage on a nearby hill – a family-friendly two bedder. All cabins are self-contained and guests need to bring all their provisions.
