Eco River Rides operate self-guided tours on the Sunshine Coast of the Maroochy River Wetlands in solar powered canoes. The canoes are eco-friendly and can run up to fifty kilometres or up to seven hours of cruising on a single charge.
The canoes are twenty feet long and can easily accommodate up to four adults. There is waterproof storage available on board for cameras and other personal belongings.
The canoe tours are self-guided, and guests are provided with detailed maps and information booklets, so they can head off exploring with confidence. The canoes are also easy to drive and only take a few minutes to learn.
Whilst exploring the river, canoeists will see many birds as the wetlands sanctuary is home to over 160 species. The wetlands boast pristine waterways, rich in fauna and flora. The wetlands are only a few kilometres from Maroochydore’s CBD but it feels isolated and untouched, making it ideal for those wanting some peace and quiet.
Inside the sanctuary is the Wetlands Interpretive Visitor Centre which is staffed by volunteers on weekends. There’s plenty to learn at the centre and it’s ideal for families with little kids.
