2017 was a great year to be a student at TAFE Queensland. And that’s because the Commonwealth Games are being held on the Gold Coast in 2018 … And as the official training partner of the Games, many TAFE students had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be involved, simply by doing what they love.
Just three examples include:
- Hazem Elsheltawi from Nambour TAFE who designed the artwork for 70 furniture cubes representing the 70 countries of the Commonwealth. These cubes will be used as furniture in the Athletes Village. For more information on Hazem’s work visit
Garnet Evans, who in collaboration with Chad Becker, designed a hair and beauty salon for the Athletes Village.
- And a group of Games and Interactive Design Honour students from South Bank campus who created a Snapchat game specifically for the Commonwealth Games. Visit TAFE Queensland on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to download the snap code to play the game. Simply open your Snapchat app, take a pic of the code, and you’ll be prompted to add TAFE Queensland as a friend to access the game for the Commonwealth Games.
