Community in the heart of the City

The suburb of Ashgrove in Brisbane’s west is not just a buzzing little precinct, but a close-knit community just a stone’s throw from the city. Between Waterworks Road and Ashgrove Avenue you’ll find all the essentials for a great day out!

There’s Meat at Billy’s butcher, owned by Billy himself.  The site has been a working butcher shop since the ’70s and continues to supply the suburb and surrounds with their daily source of protein! According to Billy: “If you’re good at what you do, the proof’s in your sausages!”

This pocket of Brisbane even has its own Milk Bar – “Noun: Milk Bar: A suburban snack bar that sells milk drinks and other refreshments / a corner shop.”

Milk Bar Café pays homage to the nostalgic Milk Bars of the past. Quench your thirst with an original malted milkshake, or why not try their extravagant deluxe thick shakes? There are plenty of delicious meals on the menu too, each named after classic songs that would have once been playing in the ol’ Milk Bars.

It’s a must visit pocket of Brisbane that will have you coming back for sure!
