When it comes to Brisbane’s competitive café scene, venues are getting more creative in order to stand out from the crowd.
While many are thinking outside the box, one café is focusing on what’s inside the box…
Board game fans should immediately pass go and head straight to Club Sosay. The Paddington gem is a café and bar that has over 500 different board games on offer and it’s all about helping the people of Brisbane connect on a whole new level. Come with a group, or rock up solo and the hosts can seat you with some new friends. When it comes to the bar – craft beers and boutique wines and coffee are the aim of the game. The kitchen serves up tasty south-American inspired fare, that’s perfect to share. As for the games, there’s something for all tastes – with classics like connect four, to complicated challenges rare finds, and Game gurus are on hand to teach people how to play.
It cost just $5.50 to play until your brain’s content – so why not start with lunch and stay for dinner. Club Sosay is about to open a second venue in St Lucia.
Club Sosay is just one of the many Brisbane café’s dishing up a kooky twist.
The Letter Lounge at Red Hill certainly earns a triple word score as a café, gift shop and meeting place that’s dedicated to words. There’s a café at the front and out the back visitors will find meeting rooms plus a function room available for hire.
The meeting rooms can be booked by the hour and Anne Maree and Judy’s hospitality knows no bounds – from catering to printing, administration and Judy’s even a qualified JP. They offer “tension-free Tuesdays” with a mobile masseuse and the café also runs regular events from sewing and art classes, to writing workshops.
The gift shop has something unique for lovers of literature and the kitchen serves up home-cooked literature-themed goodies.
