My GDO: Josh Lopez

The name Josh Lopez may be familiar to some foodies of Brisbane. Formally the executive chef at GOMA, Josh now heads up The Wolfe – a beautifully appointed, contemporary Australian restaurant, sitting pretty on Stanley Street in East Brisbane.

One look at the menu, and you can tell that Josh loves his local produce. A current dish on the menu utilizes beautiful, local butternut pumpkins, wattle seed and a creamy macadamia cheese, made from the bountiful crop at Greenlee Cottages.

The team at Greenlee have been producing macadamias that are second to none, for a little over 10 years. The property has more than 500 trees each, producing beautiful, “buttery” flavours, as Josh puts it.

This year, Greenlee is proud to be part of the Scenic Rim’s Eat Local Week, which takes place from 29 June through to 7 July. It’s an opportunity to come and explore dozens of farms, all producing beautiful produce. There are more than 90 events happening during the week, from farm tours to degustations. Greenlee will be running farm tours — with a difference! They are going to be opening up their gates to let the public experience all there is to macadamia picking and processing.

Greenlee also has a Harvest Deal for Great Day Out viewers: One-bedroom cottages for two-night stays between May 1 and August 31 for $370; includes a free farm tour, a 400-gram bag of macadamias and 400 grams of honey.
