Gold Coast Food and Wine Tours was created by Karen Inglis-Turner three years ago after she enjoyed a terrific foodie tour on holiday overseas.
When she discovered no one was leading tours like it on the Gold Coast, she decided she would. Karen offers food and wine walking tours of Broadbeach, Burleigh and Surfers Paradise, as well as tours to Tamborine Mountain.
Her premium tour is the Progressive Dinner experience and it takes in the Gold Coast as a whole. To get around, guests catch the G:link. Karen provides each guest with a travel pass that is valid all night.
The tours take in some of the best hidden foodie gems on the coast and the itinerary is a closely guarded secret. Guests don’t discover where they’re going until they arrive.
However, we can let you in on a few spots that sometimes feature on the tour…
One is Clifford’s Grill and Lounge. It offers a mix of a modern bar with a grill house and is popular for its tapas plates that can include arancini balls, squid, pork belly and New York-style chicken wings. Guests on the tour can also enjoy a chef-guided tour of the kitchen.
Another is Yamagen, which serves authentic Japanese cuisine and cutting-edge cocktails. Guests on Karen’s tour are invited to try their hand at making Yamagen’s signature cocktail.
Bazaar is an interactive marketplace that offers a massive selection of slow-roasted meats, salads, desserts, seafood and Asian cuisine.
Finally, Room 81 in the lobby of the Sofitel Hotel is popular for its signature lemon lime and bitters dessert and cocktails.
