Eat Local Week Book

Eat Local Week is an annual event where farmers and food producers in the region open their gates and doors to provide visitors a backstage pass to the food stories of the Scenic Rim.

This year chef, Brenda Fawdon, and photographer, Christine Sharp, have been commissioned once again to co-author the second volume of Eat Local – Food Farming and Conversation in the Scenic Rim.

A total of 26 farmers, growers and makers have been included in this beautiful volume, and one couple is Mount Tamborine farmers, Fred Mancy and Lisa Wood. Fred is an avocado farmer, and his wife, Lisa, is turning her hobby of growing native plants into a flourishing business. Besides growing a variety of native foods, for example pepper berries, warrigal greens, native violets, and Midyim berries Lisa has started to propagate and grow saffron.

You can read all about Lisa and Fred, plus many other passionate producers in Eat Local which is available via the Eat Local Week website.
