Champagne and Hot Chips in the City

Yep, you heard right! Step aside strawberries and oysters, champagne has found a new foodie partner, the humble hot chip. Moet and Chandon’s Wine Quality and Communication Manager, Marie-Christine Osselin last year suggested that, “The saltiness and crunchiness of the fries can best compliment Champagne’s zesty acidity and its fine bubbles.” We figured, if she’s giving this quirky combination the thumbs up, then we best get on the bandwagon!

Good news is that there are plenty of great spots in Brisbane’s CBD where you can find this tasty duo! Blackbird Bar and Grill not only has incredible views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge, their Shoestring Fries with lemon myrtle aioli and saltbush are a must try. Team that up with a glass of bubbles and we guarantee you’ll be hooked.

Fine wine is the focus at Greenglass on George Street in Brisbane’s CBD. The restaurant’s ‘wine wall’ features around 100 unique wine varieties, arranged in colour from crisp white to ravishing red. The menu specialises in French Cuisine and although they’re not technically French, French Fries are a staple.

If quirky hot chips tickle your fancy, then make sure you visit Corbett and Claude on Elizabeth Street. There is a smorgasbord of varieties to choose from: Halloumi fries, Crunchy Sweet Potato chips and Parmesan chips! The licensed bar also serves up a range of Champagne and bubbles. Ask one of the friendly staff which one they recommend!

This is only a drop in the ocean when it comes to fabulous places to drink and dine in Brisbane. The Visit Brisbane website has a bunch of other great ideas on where you can get your fix of champagne and hot chips.
