Peregian Beach

Between trendy Noosa and booming Coolum, you’ll find Peregian Beach on the Sunshine Coast.

This quieter coastal village offers a great holiday destination for the whole family.

Apart from its stunning stretch of sand and surf, Peregian has its own village square. Formerly a swimming pool in the 1960’s, the square echoes that history in the design of its public stage which features chrome pool-side handles.

Offering plenty of green space for kids to play and run, the square is flanked by a cluster of boutique retail stores and cafes.

Watermelon Red stocks vibrant fashion, gifts and homewares – with an emphasis on bright colours and supporting local designers and artists.

There’s plenty of scope for holiday dining at Peregian Beach. A popular choice is Pitchfork Restaurant – where signature dishes include a meringue roulade topped with Persian fairy floss.

A selection of pet-friendly cafes means four-legged holidaymakers are welcome. Leashed dogs can also hit the beach outside flagged areas.

But you’ll have to leave your pet pal at home to scale Emu Mountain, just south of Peregian. Don’t let the name put you off: you don’t need to be Edmund Hilary to tackle this easy uphill walk.

Fifteen minutes’ hike will deliver you to the summit where you can take in sweeping views from Noosa to Coolum – and Peregian Beach, of course.
