At 7am every Saturday morning a dedicated band of upwards of 200 runners meets near the New Farm Ferry Terminal for an exhilarating five kilometre timed parkrun.
It’s a free event that is mirrored at the same time in around 150 locations across Australia, and a third of the groups are in Southeast Queensland.
Fast runners, joggers, pram pushers and dog walkers all participate for the fitness and the social aspects of parkruns.
It’s free to join the parkrun association but participants do need to first register online.
Those taking part in another Saturday morning gathering near Streets Beach at South Bank are
offered cheap parking before 10am.
