As Broadway Musicals go, the latest production to take the stage of QPAC’s Lyric Theatre is going to resonate with more than the usual theatre-going crowd.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical celebrates the amazing talent of the American singer/ songwriter. It spans three decades of her music-making with husband and professional partner Gerry Goffin, as well as their relationship with fellow songwriting duo Cythnia Weil and Barry Mann.
It includes hit after hit after hit, some of which appeared on her Tapestry album, and some that were made famous by other big name recording stars of the sixties and seventies.
“Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, “It’s Too Late”, “You’ve Got a Friend”, and the ageless anthem “Natural Woman”, will have audiences singing long after they exit the theatre.
Esther Hannaford’s amazing voice does justice to her Carole King role, and she’s beautifully paired with Josh Piterman as Gerry Goffin.
Brisbane’s own Marcus Corowa and Naomi Price are two of the star voices in the ensemble. They have spent the past year touring with the company, and are both thrilled to now have the opportunity to perform in front of audiences at home.
The Brisbane season of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will run until end of August, and it is suitable for all ages. You can purchase tickets here.
