Did you hear that Le Dîner en Blanc is returning to Brisbane again for its 8th year? On the 23rd November 2019, a top-secret location in Brisbane will once again host the elegant soirée. To prepare, we caught up with one of the Brisbane Le Diner en Blanc hosts, Theresa Matthews, to get the lowdown on this year’s event.
What is Le Dîner en Blanc?
Theresa: Launched in 1988 by François Pasquier and his close friends in Paris, France, this unique tradition came to life from a simple idea… After a few years abroad, François Pasquier returns to Paris and decides to hold a dinner party to reconnect with friends. As many wished to attend, he asked them to meet at Boisde Boulogne dressed in all white, so they would be able to recognize one another. Each attendee was also asked to bring a friend. The evening was such a hit that guests not only wanted to repeat the occasion the following year, but also wanted to invite more friends to attend and, thus the concept of Le Dîner en Blanc was born.

Theresa: 2019 Diner En Blanc will be held on Saturday 23rd November 2019 at a ‘secret’ all-new location in Brisbane City.
From your experience, what are your tips for getting ready for Le Dîner en Blanc?
Theresa: Preparation is key. We really encourage guests to embrace the unique concept and share the experience with friends. Plan your outfit for the night, make sure you have ordered your food and wine, make sure you have your table, chairs and everything you need ready to go. And don’t forget ‘ALL WHITE’.
What should someone wear to Le Dîner en Blanc?
Theresa: Guests dress in everything EN BLANC but chic! Originality and creativity are encouraged, as long as it is elegant, stylish and tasteful.
What must-haves should you pack?
Theresa: All the essentials but try to think outside the box of how you can make your table look extra special!
