What’s better than getting the girl gang together, snuggling up on the couch with a fresh batch of popcorn and watching a Chick Flick. Sounds inviting right…Now this list could go on forever, but here’s a few to help you choose one for your next girls night.

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days (2003)

A romantic comedy to kick off the list. The plot of the movie is all in the title ‘How to lose a guy in 10 days’. Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey) is questioned about his love life by his boss; Ben bets he could make any woman fall in love with him in time for the upcoming company ball in 10 days. Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson), who is a journalist for a magazine is picked by rival colleagues of Ben to test his theory on.  Andie is currently writing an article on ‘How to lose a guy in 10 days’. Little do both know the others intentions, they meet and their plans backfires.

Bridesmaids (2011)

I would like to think this one is in everyone’s list.  A hilarious film featuring some big names such as, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Chirs O’Dowd, Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson, just to name a few.Annie is maid of honour for childhood best friend Lillian. With Annie’s life already a mess, she takes Lillian and a group of bridesmaids on a wild ride when planning for Lillian’s big day. Helen, a new friend of Lillian who is in the bridal party instantly gets under Annie’s skin in competition for Lillian’s friendship as well as planning the bridal festivities. Annie keeps losing in competition to perfect Helen and seems to be losing Lillian’s friendship. Determined to make things perfect for mutual friend, Annie and Helen overcome their issues.

Bridget Jones Diary (2001)

32-year-old Bridget Jones is coming to terms with her life. She makes a new year’s resolution to focus on herself and imperfections as well as finding herself a boyfriend. Bridget begins to develop a crush for boss, Daniel Clever despite her parents trying to set her up with family friend Mark Darcy.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

College graduate, Andrea (Anne Hathaway) lands a job at well-known fashion magazine, Runway. Assistant to bossy editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), Andy goes out on a limb to assist Miranda’s excessive demands. Andy puts up with humiliation for a year in hope of getting a job as a writer elsewhere.

The Notebook (2004)

Get the tissues ready, this one a tear jerker! This story is told by an elderly man, Noah who lives in a nursing home who reads a romantic story to a fellow patient. The patient, Allie suffers from dementia struggling to remember her past. The story turns out to be the love life the two have been through together. Noah does his best to remind Allie every day of the beautiful life they once had together.

Dirty Dancing (1987)

Baby (Jennifer Grey) is whisked off on vacation to endure another dull summer away with her parents at sleepy resort in the Catskills when she meets Johnny (Patrick Swayze). He’s a dance instructor at the resort and a charming character too, and it’s not long before he persuades Baby to become his new dance partner. As the duo grow close, Baby’s father intervenes and bans her from seeing Johnny. Trouble is she wants to perform with him in the end of summer show – but will she be allowed?

Pretty Woman (1990)

Whilst on a business trip in LA, dashing and wealthy business man Edward (Richard Gere) meets prostitute Vivian (Julia Roberts) by chance following his request for directions. Edward hires Vivian as an escort in a straight forward business transaction, he needs a companion for some social events whilst in town. As the two get closer, the line between business and pleasure becomes blurred. As romance blossoms, the question arises is it possible for two people from very different walks of life to let love conquer all?

Ghost (1990)

Sam Wheat and girlfriend Molly Jensen move to an apartment in Manhattan, a few days later they are mugged in the street. Sam is shot and killed by the mugger leaving Molly distraught. Sam discovers he is ghost, invisible and unable to interact with the mortal world, however psychic, Oda Mae Brown can hear Sam. Sam persuades Oda to warn Molly that she is in danger.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)

A friendship between two university friends who Move to New York City together go their separate ways when Sally claims that men and women cannot be friends. Harry and Sally both find themselves in relationships before running into each other on different accounts some years since going different way. The two rekindle their friendship which blossoms into much more.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018)

The most recent chick flick on this list is Netflix Original, To All the Boy I’ve Loved Before. Lara Jean writes a series of letters to her past loves which she addresses but never sends, these were made for her eyes only. The secret love letters get released and sent to each of the recipients without her knowledge. In the end the letters work in favour for Lara Jean as she finds herself with a happy ending.
