Redlands Fresh Flowers is one of the last remaining of Brisbane’s flower farms. Perched on 14 and a half acres of land in Thornlands, the farm grows a variety of beautiful blooms, all lovingly cared for by Jatinda Nijar and his team.
Jatinda practicaly grew up on the farm. He would come home from school and his father, Dave, would put him straight to work, picking flowers. Dave still likes to stay involved in the business, but nowadays the roles have reversed!
Redlands Fresh Flowers supplies florists across South East Queensland, and even parts of Northern New South Wales.
They pride themselves on supplying local and fresh flowers. Jatinda highly recommends asking your local florist, next time you buy flowers, if they are local. Many florist flowers often are shipped from interstate or even internationally. So support your local growers!
This year’s Brisbane Arcade Spring Flower Show is one event that is certainly supporting local. In fact, nearly all the flowers on show this year are from Redlands Fresh Flowers! How cool!
The theme this year is “Spring Fair,” so look forward to seeing carrousels, ferris wheels and all things carnival and floral. The week is kicked off with a fashion parade, showcasing Brisbane Arcade’s Spring Collection, vibrantly appointed with local blooms of course!
The flower show runs for a week, commencing on September 1st. You can browse the arcade at your own leisure during this time. Tickets for the runway show can be found online.
