Tangalooma (Part 1)

We all need an escape every now and again. A chance to leave your worries behind and recharge the batteries. Nothing says R&R like an island getaway, but many people think that they have to jump on a plane or head far north…not the case…

If you’re looking for crystal clear water and palm-fringed beaches, you can find paradise right on Brisbane’s doorstep.

Moreton Island is just a 75-minute ferry ride away from the hustle and bustle of Brisbane. With kilometres of pristine beaches and an underwater wonderland just waiting to be explored – there’s no shortage of adventures.

We spent a weekend at Tangalooma Island Resort and day one was all about the water-based fun.

TangaTours offer over 15 different tours and a huge range of activities so all ages and adventure levels can experience Moreton’s natural beauty. They run parasailing tours daily, that gives visitors a glimpse of the island and Moreton Bay from 100-150metres high.

There’s everything from kayaking and stand-up paddle-board hire, to sea-scooters, snorkelling & boat tours…and come nightfall, there’s a new activity on offer – the transparent night kayak tour. The kayaks are fitted with LED lights that illuminate the wrecks and allow visitors a glimpse into the underwater world after dark. It’s a fabulous tour for the whole family.

If you’d like to try something new and experience Moreton Island’s charms, Tangalooma has plenty of accommodation and tour packages.

They also offer day trips options that take in a variety of activities, including the dolphin feeding, and will have you back in Brisbane at the end of the night.
