Gold Fever

The Gympie region has spent 2017 celebrating the 150th anniversary of a gold strike that lead to the creation of what is now a thriving rural Queensland city.

Festivities included the annual street parade which highlights the area’s connection to the past, but they also included the Rush Festival, which is a contemporary program of music, arts, film, comedy and dance.

A huge outdoor Rush 2017 concert drew big names like Jimmy Barnes, The Black Sorrows, Thirsty Merc and “The Voices”, and performers including Reece Mastin and Katie Underwood to a festival that played well into the October night.

There’s always something interesting going on in the Gympie region, from music to markets and festivals to sporting events. You can keep track of it all on the Visit Gympie Region website.   And look out for the Rush Festival next October.
