A major attraction in Canungra is the Canungra Valley Vineyard. It opened in 1998 and produced a boutique range of wines that is award winning. It’s owned by the O’Reilly family, who also created O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, next to Lamington National Park.
Guests to the vineyard are invited to preorder a picnic hamper and enjoy it by the banks of Canungra Creek. Guests can also enjoy a ‘cook your own BBQ’ pack.
Wine tastings at the cellar door are also a popular activity. Right now visitors can enjoy a new season Rhelma Rose and a new vintage of the Tom Tempranillo, a variety becoming very popular.
A new activity offered at the vineyard is alpaca walks. Mountview Alpaca Farm is now based at the vineyard and guests can explore the vineyard with an alpaca as well as buy alpaca wool products at their onsite store.
Finally, for those looking for accommodation to turn a Canungra day trip into a weekend away, the Canungra Hotel is a great option. It has 11 lovely rooms and it’s right in the heart of the village.
