Each May, the Paniyiri Greek Festival draws tens of thousands of revellers to enjoy Hellenic culture in South Brisbane’s Musgrave Park. The event includes food and fun activities for the whole family, over 2 big days.
Thousands of volunteers from the Greek community help to bring the festival to the people of Brisbane. Among them is the Kalligeros family. Manoli Kalligeros is a member of the Hellenic Dancers and his son Niko, one of the youngest in the troupe, is the face of this year’s festival. This year the Hellenic dancers celebrate 40 years of performing. There’ll be regular shows on two stages throughout the Paniyiri weekend.
Food is another big drawcard for festival-goers. Each stall represents a different community group or region, staffed by home cooks keen to share their authentic recipes. Ready your taste buds to experience amazing food at this year’s Paniyiri Greek Festival!
