One of the world’s most enchanting and famous folk-tales is being brought to life in Brisbane. Be transported on a magic carpet ride to the streets of Agrabah, as QPAC welcomes Disney’s Aladdin. It’s a shining, shimmering, splendid version of the age-old tale of street-kid Aladdin and his quest to win the heart of Princess Jasmine.
The whole production is certainly a visual feast and the costumes themselves are as dazzling as the dancing. There are over 500,000 crystals used on the costumes in the production and one pair of pants boast nearly 1500 alone!
While the glitz and the glam of the show is mesmerizing, the story is just as captivating. There are two key relationships in the musical – Aladdin & Princess Jasmine, and Aladdin’s bromance with The Genie. The Genie is hilariously flamboyant, and the song “never had a friend like me” is a real crowd pleaser.
The musical sweeps audiences into an exotic world of adventure, classic comedy, timeless romance and offers something for everyone.
Aladdin is on at the Lyric Theatre QPAC until the 3rd of June.
