When you first think of Italian food, pasta certainly comes to mind and pasta is one thing Jamie’s Italian knows how to do well. Nestled within the busy streets of Brisbane City lies well known celebrity Chef, Jamie Oliver’s restaurant.
Spread across two levels with an antipasto bar catching your eye on arrival and a well-stocked counter full of Jamie Oliver’s cookbooks, this restaurant definitely oozes a rustic Italian vibe.
We were invited to try the new Spring Summer Menu and boy were we in for a treat. After being welcomed by the friendly and knowledgeable staff, the night began with olives on ice complimented by house-made black olive tapenade and a plate of the Ultimate Garlic Bread…the name says it all. Starters followed not long after which included the Chargrilled Zucchini Bruschetta, which almost looked too good to eat accompanied with two plates of the Italian-spiced Chicken Wings.
We were already starting to fill up by this point but hadn’t even moved onto the next course yet, yikes! Four beautiful hand made pasta dishes were served in front of us. With options to suit meat lovers, vegos and seafood fanatics, we tried one each. Bucatini Carbonara, Australian Octopus Ragu, Primavera Ravioli and a dish recommended by the manager, Truffle Tagilatelle.
All right, I know what you’re thinking, these girls can eat, but the night doesn’t end there! After having to politely decline moving onto mains due to indulging too early we went straight to the dessert menu. Somehow there is always room for dessert…
We had hit struggle street trying to narrow it down to a dessert each, until we were told we could try them all (winning!) Two tins were placed on the table followed by a one-meter paddle of desserts. Our eyes suddenly became bigger than our stomachs as we managed to have a decent nudge at them. The paddle consisted of the Epic Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Fudge Sundae, three scoops of delicious Sorbet, a creamy Vanilla Panna Cotta and the Summer Eton Mess – which would have had to be the all-round favourite.
The overall experience at Jamie’s Italian was definitely 10 out of 10 from the presentation and passion put into the dishes to the friendliness of the staff who served us.
To celebrate the launch of the new Spring Summer Menu, all pasta dishes on the menu will be part of a $10 lunch special. In addition, during the school holiday’s kids eat free!
Jamie’s Italian is a must try Brisbane restaurant delivering authentic and traditional Italian foods at an affordable price.
